| Mary McLean Sensei, Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt)
Co-founder of Centerfield Aikido, Mary started Aikido in 1978 as part of a doctoral program in Transpersonal Psychology in the San Francisco area. Two of her early teachers in the art, Robert Frager and Robert Nadeau Sensei, were direct students of O Sensei. Their transmission of his spirit transformed the dojos where Mary trained. She was also a close friend of Terry Dobson Sensei, who told her many stories of his ten years with the Founder. Mary regards Aikido as a spiritual path that teaches people to embody the principles of non-violence and universal love in everyday life. Her teaching focuses on relaxed, spontaneous movement from the body's heaven-earth column, and on the joyous experience of falling. Mary is a licensed, clinical psychologist specializing in body-centered psychotherapy with adults, and is a certified bioenergetic breathwork practitioner.
